Sunday Mask: Brightening Enzyme Masque

blueberry cherry tomato

Hello Christmas Eve my lovely readers. I truly wish that all is having a joyous day because we are down to day one. :P
I spent all day in doors today, finishing up the wrappings and helping mom with food preparations for tomorrow's dinner. And you know me when it comes to DIY masks when I'm at home chilling. I like to pamper my skin while I am busily working away. I have been up late the last couple of nights and lack major sleep also. That, plus the Winter chill is taking a major toll on my skin. I diligently apply moisturizers, sheet masks and whip up DIY masks as often as I can to retain the moisture in my skin.
Today's mask is rather special. LOL. When I saw the ingredients, it just reminds me of salsa recipe instead of a face mask recipe. But hey, whatever is good for the skin, I'm up for it. This mask specifically is called a brightening enzyme mask. If the name isn't already self explanatory, this mask's ingredients have components that is able to brighten the skin and even out uneven skin tones.
So let's get our mask on!! :D
Brightening Enzyme Mask
What you'll need:
-7 Blueberries
-3 Cherry Tomato
-1 Sprig of Parsley
-1 Tablespoon of Honey
-2 Drops of Lemon Essential Oil OR 1/8 Teaspoon of Lemon Juice

**You can use either fresh or frozen. There was a study some time ago claiming that frozen fruits/vegetables are much healthier than fresh fruits/vegetables. Reason being fruits/vegetables are harvested when ripe then freeze right away, all of the nutrients are there and locked away until you consume them. On the other hand, fresh fruits/vegetables are picked earlier so they can be transported to the markets and sprayed with chemicals to keep them looking fresh for the next weeks. So it is really up to you.
What to do:
-Blend all of the ingredients together with a blender or something like a Magic Bullet.
How to use it:
-Cleanse and Rinse your face with warm water.
-Pat to dry.
-Using a brush or your fingers, apply the mask all over your face avoiding the eye area.
-You can place slices of cucumbers over your eyes to refresh them of the day's uses.
-Keep the mask on for 15 or 20 minutes.
-Rinse off with warm water and pat dry.
-You can go ahead and apply your night cream afterward.
Why is this called a "brightening masque"? Well first off, blueberries are high in antioxidants and arbutin. Antioxidants delay the aging process by firming your skin to minimize fine lines. Arbutin are mostly used as a skin lightening agent. Like many other red and pink skin fruits, cherry tomatoes has a carotenoid antioxidant called lycopene present. Not only does lycopene helps combat signs of aging, it also helps reduce skin inflammation. Think of it as a sunscreen you can eat. Parsley also brightens your skin while lemon tones the skinrich in vitamin C and is full of antioxidants. Lastly, honey moisturizes and nourishes our skin.
Thank you for visiting and thanks for reading. Enjoy your Christmas Eves all. Please come back soon!! :)
