Manicure Monday: Shades of Green

Heeeeeey guys! How are you guys doing this Monday? And how was your weekend?

It was a crazy weekend for me with the World Cup Finals and everything. It's been a while since everyone gathered and had a good time, so that was great. A bit ear-deafening with lots of screaming and cheering but it's all good. Asian family gatherings are normally like that..Haha.

On another note, for the first time in a long time, Arizona received our first major rainfall last night. Instead of being in the 100s, the temperature dropped to the mid-90s, which doesn't seem much but it feels a lot cooler. The only downside to rainfall is the humidity, 38% humidity to be exact. It feels like California weather to me and needless to say, I don't like it. :( Yet, I'm still hoping for more rain.

So anyways, it is Monday, ya'll know what that means. I get to switch up my nails! I welcome you to another Manicure Monday guys. This week, I wanted to go back to something simple and not too much on the eyes. Reason being, if you remember, I had my nails in flashy red, white and blue to display my Patriot Pride. I've looked at those for more than a week so it's definitely time to switch it for a more solid, less flashy shade.

NYC Long Wearing Nail Enamel in French White Tip
Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Diamond Shine Base & Top Coat (not pictured)

As always, after prepping my nails, I paint a base coat to protect my real nails. I am still using Sally Hansen Diamond Shine.

Ulta Salon Formula Nail Lacquers are usually opaque with one coat. So that's what I did, one thick coat of Mint Condition. With the exception of my middle and ring finger, I left a tiny gap from the nail bed, so the color is kinda just floating. For the middle finger, I painted the whole nails, from nail bed to tip. I did the same for my ring finger, except I just used another darker shade called Rise & Shine. Again, what you see above is one thick coat of Rise & Shine and Mint Condition.

After those are dried, and it will take a while with this Ulta Lacquer. I used the biggest dotting tool I own, you can use a bobby pin, a toothpick or even a pencil for this, to make three big dots at the nail bed. For my middle and ring finger, I dotted four dots vertically (up and down).

That's basically it. After that was dried, I used the Diamond Shine as a top coat also. This top coat is by no means a quick dry one, so it'll take a while. It will help protect the lacquer from fading for this next week and will also help slow down the chipping.

I initially didn't really like the final product. I actually wanted to redo them, but after looking at them for a while, it doesn't look so bad anymore. What do you guys think?

So that's it for the manicures this week. Show me what's on your nails. I'd love to see your creativities or even nail polish shades.

Thank you for once again joining me on my blog. I look forward to your visits everyday and thanks for reading. Please come back soon. :)

Sinful Colors in Rise and Shine Review

Sinful Colors Rise & Shine
Ahhh! I am sooo excited to finally write this post. It was a really fun project, I enjoyed observing my manicure. This green really makes me happy, but after looking at them for two weeks, I cannot wait to put on a new color.
Let's start with the fresh paint on Monday, February 17th. What you see here is the result of 2 coats with no top coat.

The results after one week, Monday, February 24th. Besides my nails growing and the manicure is lifted from the growth, manicure still looks fresh.

exactly one week later
One week and a day later, Tuesday, February 25th. The tip of the nail started chipping, otherwise still in good shape.
Chipping started at the tip of the nail.
one week and a day later
One week and two days later, Wednesday, February 26th. It started chipping by the cuticle.
Chipping started by the cuticle.
one week and two days later
One week and three days later, Thursday, February 27th. You can see that once it starts to chip, that's the beginning of the end.

One Week and four days later, Friday, February 28th. I'm actually surprise that the tip isn't chipping as rapid.

One week and five days later, Saturday, March 1st. If it chips anymore from the bottom, I'll end up with a french tip.

I think I'll stop the update today. After a week and some plus days, I think we all can see what the results turn out to be. After one week, it started chipping; the rate rapidly increased soon after. You can tell the drastic difference between 1 week and one day and one week and two days. I think painting two coats is fairly normal for any nail lacquer, but not having a top coat over it, rarely any nail polish can last for almost two weeks. With their constant releases of new shades, their fair priceswidely available everywhere and long lasting formulaSinful Colors have fast become one of my most favorable nail polish brand.
Bottom Line: I highly recommend  Sinful Colors to anyone looking for an affordable, trustworthy drug store nail polish. I also highly recommend this shade for anyone looking for a green polish, although this is not exactly green, it's more of a dark teal with slight shimmer.
I hope you all enjoyed this post. I know I had a blast doing it. Enjoy your Saturdays guys. Thank you for reading. :)

Manicure Monday: Unintentional Review 2

I really love doing unplanned posts like this. I now realize that Sinful Colors just might be my new favorite drug store brand. It is only $1.99 and you can find it at WalgreensTargetWalmart and K-Mart, at least these are the places I found them at. I'm pretty sure they can be found at Rite Aid too, but we don't have Rite Aids here in Arizona...bummer.
So today is Monday, I usually do my nails today. But I couldn't bring myself to remove my current manicure, one, i just love this green color and two, the paint still looks fresh, no chip no nothing.
If you haven't checked out last week's manicure or forgot, this is it.

And this is one week later.
Sinful Colors Rise and Shine 2 coats, no top coat one week later

Yep. Two posts about intentional review and they're both Sinful Colors. Please keep in mind that the reason I'm making this a big deal is because I did not use a top coat. Most drug store brands like NYC would have chipped and faded  already.
I'm thinking about keep ya'll up to date everyday until I do remove it. Would that be too much?
Hope your Monday was fabulous. Thanks for reading guys. :)

I feel especially motivated today. So I dedicate this song to my fellow K-Poppers. I just absolutely love the lyrics.
"Because the dawn before the sun rise is the darkest
Even in the future, never forget of the you right now
Wherever you are right now, you're just taking a break
Don't give up you know, Don't get too far away [from] Tomorrow"
